Approaching Borthwick CastleScotland Castle Tours guides are Blue Badge members of the Scottish Tourist Guides Association and are fully insured for Public Liability and Professional Indemnity, and adhere to a strict code of conduct. Please read and agree to the following terms and conditions carefully before you book a tour.

 

Walking tours and extended tours  2015-2016

Half day (up to 4 hours) £150.00
Full day (up to 8 hours) £250.00
Overtime (per hour) £40

The client is responsible for paying for entrance fees, hotels, meals, transport and ferry costs (guide’s ferry costs to be paid also).

 

Additional charges

If a driver and transport is required, then additional costs will be incurred. These costs will vary depending on type of transport, distance travelled, and number of clients. Please contact Scotland Castle Tours for further details.

Scotland Castle Tours will add administrative charges for booking hotels, transport, entrance tickets, restaurants, ferry crossings, train and plane tickets, if required by the client. Payment in advance is required for these services.

The client is expected to cover travel expenses incurred by the guide when travelling to the tour start point (where applicable) and also pay for travel time (£15.00 per hour) if the tour start point takes one hour or more in travel time.

The client will provide the tour guide with a lunch allowance on full tour days. On extended tours the client is expected to cover the guide’s accommodation and food expenses to the total sum of £110 per night.

 

Payment

Please contact us if you would like to book a tour.

A non refundable deposit of 50% of the final tour cost confirms the tour. This will be deducted from the tour price. The balance is due 7 days before the start of the tour.

Please ensure all payments are in £ Stirling (GBP). Payment can be made by

  • Bank transfer (£ GBP Sterling)
  • Paypal (+ 3.5% processing fee)
  • By cash (£ GBP Stirling)

Client cancels the tour

There is no charge if the client cancels the tour 28 days or more before the start of the tour. If the client cancels between 28 days and 14 days there is a cancellation charge of 50% of the final tour cost. If the client cancels the tour 14 days or less before the start of the tour there is a cancellation charge of 100% of the final cost of the tour.

If the client for the booked tour does not arrive then Scotland Castle Tours will reserve the right to receive the full cost of the tour.

 

Company cancels Tour

In the unlikely event that Scotland Castle Tours cancels a tour the client may choose between a rescheduling of the tour or a full refund of all the money paid or a credit towards an alternative tour. If you choose to accept a credit, the difference in the cost of the alternative tour will be refunded or paid by the client as applicable.

 

Alterations to itineraries

Scotland Castle Tours reserves the right to change timetables or tour itineraries due to weather, availability of attractions, roadworks or any other situation beyond our control. Refunds will not be offered in these circumstances.

 

Insurance

Clients are strongly urged to arrange suitable travel, and medical insurance. This should also the cover cost of cancellation of any accommodation which does not form any part of this contract.

 

Liability

Scotland Castle Tours accepts no liability for loss, damage, delay, inconvenience, or direct or consequential loss, however caused, unless due to our negligence, in which case our liability is limited to a maximum of the tour cost. Any activities such as walks or visits to attractions are completely at the client’s own risk.

 

Force Majeure

Scotland Castle Tours does not accept any liability for any loss, inconvenience or damage caused by war, threat of war, riot or civil commotion, terrorist or criminal activity, industrial disputes, natural disasters, fires, sickness, weather conditions, road or traffic conditions, temporary technical, mechanical or electrical breakdown within booked accommodation, explosion of, or radioactive contamination from, any nuclear facility or other events beyond the control of Scotland Castle Tours.
